About the talk

The conservation effort of the Eltham Copper Butterfly populations has a long history. In her presentation, Andrea will discuss the ecology of ECB and the activities undertaken to conserve the species ever since its rediscovery in the late 1980s. In particular, she will focus on a large state government grant received by the Friends of ECB and how it successfully bought back the species from the edge of extinction.

About Andrea

Andrea Canzano is an ecologist with a background in invertebrate conservation. She is particularly interested in the ecology and conservation of the Eltham copper butterfly and coordinated the Eltham Copper Butterfly monitoring program at the Eltham populations for thirteen years.
