Scutellaria humilis

Common Names: 
Dwarf Skullcap

Distinctive groundcovering plant in the Mint family. Tiny pink flowers in early summer.
The roundish leaves have broad lobes.

Distribution: 

Grows among boulders in escarpments along e.g. the Merri Creek in sheltered sites.

Ecology: 

Revegetation: 

Spreads vigorously, both by rhizomes and through self-seeding where there is sufficient moisture.

Gardening Hints: 

This species is a highly desirable garden plant, readily grown and forming a hardy ground-cover. It is likely to die down in February but will regrow rapidly following autumn rains.

Propagation: 

Propagation by division of the rhizomes is very successful. Seed germinates in spring/summer.
