Pterostylis nutans

Common Names:
Nodding Greenhood

A single nodding translucent flower to 25mm long with green stripes sometimes reddish towards the tips, on stems 10-30mm high.
Leaves forms a flat rosette. The leaves are larger than most other Pterostylis species and can form large colonies covering several square metres in favoured sites.
To the north of Melbourne, this species often occurs with two other Pterostylis species; P. curta, the Blunt Greenhood and P. pedunculata, the Maroonhood. The Blunt greenhood has similar dimensions but has a flower which is not nodding and is generally more 'loosely' arranged.
