Mount Rothwell Field Trip
Mon, 01/10/2007 - 11:14
I went with other staff from Merri Creek Management Committee to Mount Rothwell Sanctuary (used to be an Earth Sanctuary) to a spotlighting tour of Mt Rothwell Sanctuary near the You-Yangs (Victoria) recently. Fantastic opportunity to see a range of medium sized mammals now extinct or almost in Victoria - Brush-tailed Rock Wallabies, Bettongs, Southern Brown Bandicoots, etc. Made possible by the fox and cat-proof fence. We'll print an article in Indigenotes soon (providing they supply one as promised).
The people made us very welcome. Tours for groups of 10 or more people will be free at some stage soon I am led to believe. IFFA could organise a tour if there's interest.
